A ceremony officially dedicating East 19th Street between Second and Third avenues in Manhattan as Mother Cabrini Way in honor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, the patron saint of immigrants, was held Oct. 20.
Participants
included New York City Council Member Rosie Mendez, and Sister Pietrina
Raccuglia, M.S.C., provincial of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart
of Jesus, the religious congregation founded by Mother Cabrini.
East 19th Street in New York City was recently dedicated as Mother Cabrini Way.
Many gathered for the ceremony as the unveiling of the new sign took place. Sr. Pietrina Raccuglia, MSC opened the program.
Fr. Arthur Golino blessed the new street sign.
Sr. Catherine Garry gave a stirring reflection on the life of Mother Cabrini.
Councilwoman Rosie Mendez offered the keynote address and highlighted the work of the MSCs on behalf of immigrants. Congratulations, Missionary Sisters!
