Ms. Wanda Renee Spencer, of Winston-Salem, NC was born in Surry County on December 24, 1949 to the late John Robert Spencer Sr. and Rowena Randleman. She departed this life on November 3, 2023 in Winston Salem, NC.

Renee was a long time 1199 employee. She began her career at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City and ending it at St. Luke’s Roosevelt also in New York. 

Her adventure in life brought her to Cabrini Medical Center which became her second home. She was a telephone operator and union delegate. 

All that met her knew she was a little lady but she had a great big voice on her and she got things done. If you needed a cake or a dinner for an occasion all you had to was call her. She would never say “no”! She will be missed not because she could cook or bake and sew, she was a friend to anyone who just needed a smile or a shoulder to lean on.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Robert Spencer and Rowena Randleman.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son Freddie Belcher Jr. of New York, 3 grandchildren; sister Donna Spencer of CA and one brother Bobby Spencer of Winston-Salem, NC. Special cousins Bobby Gwyn (Diane) of Winston-Salem, NC, Donna Norman of Mount Airy, NC and Cornelius Emmanuel of Mount Airy, NC. A very special friend for many years Vernetta Harris of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted on 

Sunday at 2:00pm November 12, 2023 

at St. Paul AME Church 321 N. South Street, Mount Airy, NC 

and burial will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery, Mount Airy, NC.

Family will receive friends from 1:30pm until 2:00pm prior to the funeral service.
