Doctor Sings ‘Happy Birthday’
To Every Newborn Baby
Dr. Carey D. Andrew-Jaja of Magee Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA lives his life by one saying:
“Confront every encounter with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.”
It’s a mantra he takes literally, and hopes to pass it on to every human life he brings into this world. In fact, this amazing doctor makes sure the babies he delivers begin life with a song in their heart — and it’s a song he sings to them! For years, he’s been singing “Happy Birthday” to each and every single baby he delivers, immediately following their birth.
This wonderful tradition has inspired not only new moms and dads, but also his entire staff; the entire room fills with joy as the doctors, nurses, and loved ones join together to serenade the newest family member.
Singing to the babies and their mothers not only helps form an instantaneous bond, but it also injects a dose of fun not often
experienced in the delivery room.
“I feel an obligation and enjoy another opportunity to celebrate with the family,” Dr. Andrew-Jaha says.
