It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Sanaa Elhosseiny on November 27, 2025, at the age of 73. 

After nearly sixteen years living with Parkinson’s disease and courageously facing a bout of breast cancer, Sanaa left this world peacefully, surrounded by her family and held in the compassionate care of Calvary Hospital.

Sanaa devoted more than forty years of her life to nursing—a career that reflected the very essence of who she was. As a nurse clinician at Cabrini and later an oncology nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering, she was known for her gentle presence, her warm smile, and her unwavering dedication to the well-being of her patients and colleagues. Her kindness was not just something people noticed; it was something they felt.

Born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, Sanaa immigrated to the United States in the mid-1970s with her husband, Dr. Abdel Elhosseiny, whom she met in medical school. Together, they built a life rooted in perseverance, gratitude, and love. In true immigrant spirit, Sanaa worked at Burger King while preparing for her nursing licensure exams—an early glimpse of the determination and humility that would define her life’s journey. The couple made their home first in Staten Island, NY, and later in Yorktown Heights, NY, where they raised their family.

Above all else, Sanaa was a devoted wife and mother. She leaves behind her beloved husband of fifty years, Abdel, her daughter Rhonda, and her son Rhamey - each of whom carries forward her gentleness, compassion, and strength.

Sanaa touched countless lives with her generosity, empathy, and quiet courage. Her legacy lives on in the people she cared for, the colleagues she uplifted, and the family she cherished beyond measure. She will be remembered always, and missed deeply.

Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Louis D’Amore, age 65 of Salem, Virginia, on December 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving Virginian family in his new home. 

Born in Brooklyn, Louis had a passion for helping people and touched countless lives through his lifelong career in healthcare. 

Once he retired, that helping hand extended towards family and friends, always ready to be that listening ear and shoulder to lean on. 

 

He is survived by his brother Paul, sister-in-law Rose, their children, and grandchildren. Those of us grieving who he left behind take comfort in knowing he has joined his mother, Caroline, his father, Anthony, his grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends, who joyfully welcomed him to heaven. 

Although we grieve, we are also comforted by knowing Louis is finally free from all pain. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers at this time as they hold a private ceremony.

Josephine Louise Fuchigami Abalos

Josephine was born on May 26, 1938, to parents Cipriano Abalos Sr. and Evangeline Fuchigami in Baguio City, Philippines, the eldest of their ten children. After graduating from Baguio City High School, she obtained her Registered Nurse Diploma at St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She then achieved her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where she was awarded as a University Scholar.

Josephine emigrated from the Philippines to North America in 1962. She completed nursing training under the Foreign Exchange Program of the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following her training in Philadelphia, Josephine worked in Chicago and Toronto, and then earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Syracuse University. In 1971, she moved to Manhattan, New York City.

In New York, Josephine worked at Beth Israel Medical Center, followed by Cabrini Medical Center where she retired as the Assistant Director of Nursing. In her retirement, she enjoyed being a true and proud New Yorker—attending the US Open, going to Broadway shows and the ballet, and dining in Chinatown. She lived and thrived in Manhattan until 2022, when she moved to Virginia Beach to spend her remaining life with family.

 

Josephine’s family extends their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to her friends in New York, who have selflessly supported and cared for her.

A private memorial service will be held at Smith and Williams Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

In honor of her final wishes, Josephine’s remains will be spread in Virginia Beach, the Philippines, and New York.
